  X-891 series steel drum coating is new type steel drum coatings developed through dozens of modifications and as per features concerning the manufacturing and application of steel drums based on the anticorrosion advantages enjoyed by epoxy, PVF, pure phenolic aldehyde, polyurethane, polyester and amino alcohol coatings. It is the sole domestic patent steel drum coating with the patent number of ZL 01 2 45930. 5.    
  X-891 series steel drum coating belongs to bicomponent ambient temperature solidified coating, of which, the film is formed through the addition cross linking and solidifying reaction between the two components as contained in it either at ambient temperature or under the condition of low-temperature roasting. This type of reaction belongs to direct addition reaction, which is characterized by the zero release of byproducts and minimum shrinkage. This is helpful in providing excellent compactness as required to ensure the perfect anticorrosion property of the reticular coat film.    
  As X-891 coating can be solidified even without roasting, it is especially appropriate for any coopery plant without roasting equipments yet to manufacture steel drums with interior coating. Furthermore, it can be used by those manufacturers with roasting equipments to realize energy conservation and reduction of cost. 
  X-891 series steel drum coatings can be divided into type 1 steel drum anticorrosive interior coating, type 2 electrolytic zinc plated anti-oxidation lucent coating for steel drums, type 3 steel drum exterior anticorrosive coating and X-891-4 lucent ceramic imitating steel drum coating.
   X-891-1 steel drum anticorrosive interior coating has extensive adaptability, which is available in transparent type and color type. The transparent coating is characterized by its high performance and price ratio as well as high transparency and glaze; whereas, the white coating can provide the visual perception and the tact as possessed by the white ceramic tiles. For this purpose, X-891-1 steel drum anticorrosive interior coating is widely applied to the interior coating for steel drums, especially the interior coating for homemade steel drums of large-size opening. X-891-1 transparent coating can provide the steel drums of large-size opening made from cold rolled steel plates with glistering crystal inner wall similar to the stainless steel mirror board, and maintain their luster for several years even if they are stored in damp and corrosive environment. Furthermore, X-891-1 white interior coating can provide common steel drums with snow-white, smooth and bright inner wall similar to white ceramic tiles.      
  Moreover, PVF imitating green X-891-1 steel drum anticorrosive interior coating has been used by many coopery plants instead of epoxy and PVF coatings owing to its perfect anticorrosion property and relatively low cost.

  X-891-2 electrolytic zinc plated anti-oxidation lucent coating for steel drums is mainly applied to the integral exterior painting for electrolytic zinc plated steel drums. As the zinc coat of electrolytic zinc plated steel drum is prepared under the action of current, its structure is not as compact as that of the hot-dip galvanized (white iron) steel drum provided with compact oxide film and oil film on its surface. Therefore, it has relatively poor performance in terms of appearance as well as the oxidation and corrosion resistance, which may subject to scaling, pulverization and rust after the steel drums are used for a certain period of time. In comparison, the thin layer of 891 coating applied to the external surface of the electrolytic zinc plated steel drums can ensure the lucent appearance and fast drying in addition to the enhancement of integral oxidation and corrosion resistance. As it is only need to apply a thin layer of such coat, the unit consumption can be reduced significantly. According to normal practice of some coopery plants, one kilogram 891 coating can be used to coat for more than twenty 200 liter electrolytic zinc plated steel drums. 

  X-891-3 steel drum anticorrosive exterior coating is applied to the exterior coat of the steel drums. It is inevitable that corrosive chemicals may splash on the surface of the steel drums during the process of filling. This may in most cases, incur corrosion to the paint coat of the steel drums, and may consequently cause the scaling and peeling. In comparison, X-891-3 transparent coat applied to the finish paint of the steel drums can guard against any damage by the splashed liquid to the coat, and thereby ensure more lucent finish paint which is pleasing to the eye. So far, X-891-3 anticorrosion steel drum coating has not only been widely accepted by domestic steel drum users, but has also been applied by German Henkel Company to coat steel drums for packing surfactants.         
  X-891-4 lucent ceramic imitating steel drum coating is manufactured based on the modification to X-891-3 coating. As compared with amido baked paint, it is a type of roasting-free coating characterized by its high adhesion and rigidity as well as excellent corrosion resistance in addition to other properties as possessed by X-891-3 coating. Its luster and visual perception can be mentioned in the same breadth with the lacquer for sedan cars. It is an ideal exterior coating for steel drums.    
  891 coating has wide applications. For instances, some enterprises use it as the coating for iron pans. While some enterprises use it as both interior and exterior coating for cardboard drum (cardboard drum with interior coating can be used to store liquid products); some others use it to coat the weld of hot-dip galvanized drums with the addition of aluminum silver starch.

  X-891 steel drum coating must be mixed thoroughly and uniformly in two groups as per the proportion of 1:1, and placed for 10 minutes prior to application. In case full contact with oxygen, interior coat of the steel drum can acquire superficial dryness and thorough dryness respectively at the lead time of 10 minutes and 30 minutes when placed at ambient temperature ( 25℃ ). The higher temperature is, the faster solidifying would be. However, the curing time would be significantly extended if the temperature is below 10℃ . Therefore, many coopery plants prefer to solidify the 891 coating applied to the steel drums by roasting it for 10 minutes at the temperature of 180℃ ~ 220℃ . It is reported that effect is so satisfactory. It is better for those manufacturers without baking equipments to proceed with the bottom closing for steel drums as per weather conditions several days after the X-891 coating is applied, so as to ensure the thorough solidifying with full contact with oxygen.
